Saitama City Agenda with the Saitama City Mayor
8th February 2024
WBFF welcomes cooperation for the 10th World Bonsai Convention to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2026. This is to learn the experience and know-how from Saitama City, which has hosted the 8th World Bonsai Convention successfully.
WBFF will also present the idea to the Japan Bonsai Association about the time capsule project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Kokufu Exhibition. Saitama City, the World Bonsai Friendship Federation, and the Japan Bonsai Association would like to collaborate on the capsule project with the Saitama City government as a leading role.
Therefore, during the Kokufu Exhibition in February 2025, it has been planned that WBFF will hold the annual general meeting of the World Bonsai Friendship Federation and propose a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the time capsule project.
A plethora of diverse bonsai resources, including images, books, tools, USB drives, and pots, will be assembled. It would be most fitting to have the burial ceremony for the time capsule following the 2026 World Bonsai Convention. The 2026 World Convention is a great opportunity to gather a lot of resources.
Shimizu Chieri, the Japanese Youngest Bonsai artist and honorary ambassador for the 10th World Bonsai Convention in 2026, deserves much of the credit for ensuring that the visit of the WBFF Chairman on February 8, 2024, was well-organized and productive thanks to her immense networking skills.
